Watching Goodfellas was like watching a rerun... err, pre-run of Sopranos . I was surprised at how many people were in both. I have to admit that I don't see why this one was hyped up so much. Don't get me wrong, it was a good movie, but I've seen better. Perhaps it was more about when it came out. It was nice to see what others have been talking about, tho. Seeing it also made TechFellas, an IT spoof of Goodfellas, make a lot more sense... go figure. If you haven't seen it, check out TechFellas.
Perhaps I should've known what was coming, but I didn't realize Becoming Jane was based on a true story until the last scene. Then again, it was an interesting surprise... which makes me think I shouldn't have ruined it for you. Oh well. Chances are, anyone considering watching this one will already know a bit about the basis of the movie.
I have to admit I'm not big on these types of movies. This one isn't going to make anyone a convert, that's for sure. The movie is very slow, yet the main couple seems to move very fast. Not sure what was up with that. The best part about this movie was, dare I say it, the end. No, no; I'm not saying it was that bad of a movie. I'm merely saying that the one part that I really enjoyed was the moment at which
the two lovers reunited and
Tom mentioned his daughter's name.

I thought that was very touching.
While I could swear that half the movie has been done before, I'd still recommend this one to anyone who likes these period pieces. I wouldn't run out to get this one, but I would ask a friend to borrow it or grab it if you're in the mood.
I didn't expect a whole lot when I went to go see I Know Who Killed Me . Honestly, I figured it'd be pretty stupid, but there wasn't much out and I wanted to go see a movie. I was actually surprised. If you're not into gorey movies, there will be parts that you'll cringe at. I didn't expect that at all, which was nice. I always like when a movie surprises you. This one did just that... from two angles. I will say the movie was somewhat predictable, tho. Not horribly predictable, but enough to figure out what was going on. There were too many things that didn't fit together. Maybe I was analysing it a bit too much, but things just didn't make sense... like the stupid cat. What was up with that cat!? I wanted it to mean something, but it just didn't. I also wonder what was up with all the blue. Everything was blue. I guess that's my biggest complaint about the movie: so much was left unexplained. The ending was kind of aggravating for that reason. I just thought, "Is that it?" Apparently it was.

Deja Vu
I almost didn't watch Deja Vu because I thought I'd already seen it. Is it just me or are Denzel Washington's movies starting to run together? You're pretty hard-pressed to find two that don't have similar concepts. Anyway, I'm glad I watched the movie because it was quite interesting. The concept was that the government is funding a project that allows them to see what happened four days ago, if I remember correctly. I don't want to dig into it any more than that, tho, because it might give away some hints I feel like are nice surprises. Let me just say that there's a bit of a scifi twist in this one that I didn't expect. If you've avoided this one because of Denzel's past movies, but typically like scifi, I'd say give this one a chance.

Evening
Evening was an emotional movie about a woman on her deathbed. She never truly shared her life story with her daughters, which left them wondering when she began mumbling rememberances of her past while drifting in and out of sleep. Honestly, the movie didn't seem to have one single focus, tho. I could get all hypothetical and say something about our life choices, happiness, and family, but I won't. I'm just going to leave it at the fact it was a good movie. I definitely enjoyed this one. The only complaint I had was the ending, which seemed somewhat abrupt.
If you liked Evening, I'd suggest The Notebook .
No Reservations was a cute movie. It reminded me of another love story that took place in the kitchen, Just Desserts . No Reservations was better, tho. I was surprised at what happened to the main character’s sister in the beginning. I guess I just didn’t expect it. Then again, I didn’t watch the trailer, so maybe that was covered there. All-in-all, it’s your basic love story. I did feel like the movie was somewhat rushed. Not necessarily overly rushed, but things moved a bit faster than one would imagine. If you liked No Reservations, I’d recommend Just Deserts.
A lot of people talked about how great Knocked Up was. I typically try to ignore these comments because it sets you up for disappointment more often than not. While I wasn't disappointed, it wasn't as funny as it was built up to be. Despite that, I'd recommend it to anyone. I found myself getting annoyed at some of the characters, which will most likely push me away from other movies they're in; but I did laugh for a good portion of the movie, so it probably evened itself out. One thing I found interesting was that this was a remake. Unlike most remakes dating back to the 70's or earlier, the original seems to be only three years old. I've never seen it, so I can't say how close it really is, but I would be interested in watching it. Then again, Netflix doesn't seem to carry it, so that won't be anytime soon.
You've gotta be kidding me, right? The second half of The Sopranos season 6 was pretty good until the end. But what happened? It's like the budget ran dry or something. There was a lot to cover and I was definitely watching the clock, trying to figure out how they'd wrap it all up with what little time was dwindling away. I was very surprised to see the series end like that. And, from what I understand, there are no plans for a movie or anything, so that was it. Then again, we've all seen movies pop up from nothing. In a sense, that could be a good idea. Leave people wanting more to drive a following behind the movie you "aren't going to make." Then, when you do make the movie, everyone will want to see it. It's been done before. Either way, it was a good second half, so you'll definitely need to check it out.
