The Hills Have Eyes 2
wasn't as good as the first one
, but it was still decent. I questioned the beginning a lot, but it picked up in the end. If you liked the first, but feel like walking out on this one after 30 minutes, try to stick it out. The acting is poor and they're trying to recreate something that will probably never be successful at, but at least it gets better. And, as we have all come to expect in sequels, we have the obligatory more-to-come last scene. I have no idea if they'll make a third, but they like having the opportunity. I doubt they will. I think it was more for effect.
The story behind this one wasn't as good, which is part of why I didn't like it as much. One thing I thought was interesting was how these two movies are all about making the nerdy guy the hero. I question the word "hero" in this sense, but at least he's the protagonist. I could probably comment on a lot of the personalities, but I'll leave that out so not to give anything away.
The bottom line is, if you watched the first and enjoyed it, check this one out. Force yourself to stick around past the first half, tho, because it takes a while to get into.
If you liked The Hills Have Eyes 2, I'd recommend Hostel
and Turistas
. Hell, there are probably half a dozen or more other horror movies
I'd recommend, too.
